In-Field Results: Mighty Mustard® Improves Soil Fertility & Builds Biomass

Diane Green, esteemed organic farmer, educator and owner of Greentree Naturals Certified Organic Farm, grows Mighty Mustard® for multiple reasons: to build biomass, increase soil fertility and serve as a trap crop. In 2014, she conducted the following research with a cover crop of Mighty Mustard® Pacific Gold, IdaGold and peas:

“We experimented planting peas with the mustard to increase biomass. We had plenty of peas left over and figured we’d try it out, following the garlic crop. We now always follow the garlic crop with mustard and have noticed great improvement with the soil fertility. Also, having the mustard flowering late summer is excellent habitat for beneficial insects!’

Mighty Mustard® is verified by the Non-GMO Project and approved for use in organic agriculture. Protecting the integrity of her organic farm is crucial for Diane, so it’s imperative that Mighty Mustard® fits her high standards.

“Obviously, we are huge fans of Mighty Mustard® and so appreciate that you are certified non-GMO, so we could use your seed on our certified organic farm! I’ll be in touch about picking up some seed to sell. I’m so excited about being able to offer it.”
